AACW 1.12 release candidate 3

Mon Nov 17, 2008 11:51 am

If people give me the green light, it will be official today. The only changes I can think about are some tweaks in the battle module variables (more details in the readme). Unless some gremlins inserted unexpected bugs, just for fun :neener:

Today, in a round of 40 tests (four different test battles, varied terrain and attack/defense dispositions), I saw a remarkably fine, historically plausible mix of battle results (durations, single-day average casualties, entire-battle casualties, evenhandedness, variability), and no real bloodbaths among the bunch. From my perspective, I give it two thumbs up!

Berto: Every serious engagement of the ACW was a real blood bath. Heavy losses were the predominant factor throughout the war. This made the heroism so amazing. t

Yes, of course. The smallest skirmish was a bloodbath for the killed and wounded and their kin.

I use "bloodbath" in this context as a shorthand for battles with >50% total casualties even to the point of total annihilation.

1.12 Possible bugs

Fri Nov 28, 2008 10:04 pm

I am a relatively inexperienced user but after installing the latest update I noticed the following:
1. All ship building and supply requisitions for New England don't seem to get built. The costs are deducted but the goods never appear.
2. Fleets in the blockade boxes do not get resupplied. A mail message appears that is half French and half English (Franglish?) informing you that you are out of supplies. I had many transports with the blockade and the fleets.
3. I tried to send cavalry, artillery and a supply wagon with a transport and a gun ship. It got to the desired location but I couldn't get the units to disembark the transport.
This is a new game that only used 1.12.
