Manual wrong on FOW?

Sat Oct 04, 2008 6:53 pm

Ok, I've ran some tests and it appears that it is wrong on FOW. Specifically:

if your detection value equals the hide value of your opponent, you detect him.

You need a detection value +1 on your opponent to detect them. If it's equal they'll disappear. I'm thinking about updating the Wiki and just would like this confirmed.

The manual is right here. Are you not seeing forces which have no more hide value than your detection?

Yes, they're disappearing when I run tests. I'll upload the file if you want.

Can you post 2 screenshots, one per side. The first showing the hide value of the unit, and the second the detection value of the 'detector' with the absence of sight of the first side?

Don't forget that detection rating decay by one when checking adjacent regions, and that terrains and/or weather an also reduce that too.

Ok, that's what it was. Usually opposing forces are not sitting together in the same region so that's a little confusing.

This, taken from the manual, is a little confusing too:

Is this just a generalized statement? They aren't always automatically detected (if hide is greater than detect) and Cav is probably better tha rangers/Partisans at detecting.
