Ugggh ...I was afraid you guys would say that! I always throw everything I can into him n been getting my butt kicked cause he wont move :p .....Time for a new approach I quess :p ....by the way, anyone know his exact release date...seems crazy to put him in if I cant move him :p
Oh yea on Jackson too....he starts only as a two star Gen....so he as to win battles right????? To get him to corp status....seems the best strategy is to break im off then as quick as possible after te first major engagement usually at Manases so he can get his rd star and you can upgrade him to corp status....umm right?....no other way I see which seems lame.

No worries he will come in good time. In the meanwhile you have Johnston and beauregard supported by excellent subordinates. Nothing to be concerned about.

Hmm been sacking Beauregaurd cuz he sucked historicly n delegating im to non-essential areas....then breaking off Jackson so he can get a promotion.....only way to get Jackson to corp status....ummm right?

** generals can create corps. Jackson can't command an army.

Lee doesn't unlock at a set date, it depends on circumstances and luck. If a large union army approaches too close to Richmond after January 1862 he will unlock. If any size force attacks Richmond, he will unlock. There is a random chance he will unlock each turn after January 1862 . He will automatically unlock in January 1863, if he hasn't by then.

Hmm seems better to just play randomized leaders....if that works out may be the funnest game I ever got :)
Hey Jabber////I only saw the division command...the two stars can create Corps?....dont see it...for sure its there?
Hmm do I need some more admn. points or something when its not there?

Lee's field command for the Confederate States came sometime in June of 1862 as commander of the Army of Northern Virginia. So the game is keeping true to the real events of the civil war.

I am about 3 months from that date and am looking forward Lee's unlocking. :hat:

Form corps is the second button down on the left. (below form army, above combine)

Yeah Jabber see it, but its never highlighted for me :p ....must be 1 of those wierd game rules I still dont completly understand yet.

Yeah seems better to Grey to play randomized leaders.

I mean we already know from history Lee sould lead the south and it took Lincoln almost 4 years to realize Grant and Sherman were almost the only decent northern leaders.....so why play to only wait for Lee to unlock and Jackson running around with a core....the game ISNT R.E. Lee civil war general, already a game like that done by Sierra! The game seems instead to want to put you in Lincoln or Davis's position and when the war started they had no idea who would be a good leader for their cause.....just my 2c

Thomas (Stonewall) Jackson CAN become a Corps Commander about turn 4 or so without a promotion as it only takes a ** General to be a CC.

However, (and this is up for some debate) when he IS able to get promoted to *** and become a General of the Army he gets the quick angered trait.

You might want to check this trait out before you just promote him on reputation.
The Good General looks to Win and then to Battle while the Poor General looks to Battle and Hopes to win.

thks grudge....finally sat down awhile with the game n fiqured out the interface almost completly....yeah i think i understand your tips on how to trick the AI and win early as the confederacy.
Its kinda the old complaint in all AI war game's that the AI cant see the whole picture as a human can, and simply react to opportinities by luring him away with empty or weak cities huh?

Once you have formed an army, select it, and hold down the shift key. You will see a highlighted area on the map around the army. Any 2 or 3 star that is not a division or brigade commander can form a corps inside that area, so either move the army close to the potential corps commander, or the potential corps commander close to the army.

Read the manual pepe, or head for the wiki. In the forums there's a sticky on AACW 101...that's a MUST for new players :)

U ll find the game much more enjoyable, trust me (lol on R.E.Lee being stuck lol lol)

Anybody who hasn't already ... should check out ltr's Austerlitz walkthrough. It is written for NCP, but both the concepts and mechanics apply to ACW. It clearly explains the basics, and quite a few not-so-basics.

Lrtr quite clearly explained the ABC of CP, stacks, bonus/penalties and gave a nice AAR too. I had missed that, thx Jabs, a long thread worth reading! :)

HUH??...what a strange concept...too foreign too me!

LoL just joking...yeah I hate reading manuals....finner to just dive in n play and eventually I fiqure it all in and did after hours of play. Strategy wargames are my passion n eventually fiqure them out and the computer tendencies as Grudge talks about in his threads.

Ah, yes. Another 'type C user'

Type A = Opens the manual, reads every page. Relgiously applies all facts.
Type B = Tries the game. Gets stuck. Opens the manual. Figures everything out.
Type C = Manual still has shrink wrap on it. Hacks at game. Gets mad. Finally shreds the wrapper off manual. Says 'Oh s__t, I wish I'd read that.'

I'm proudly type C. :niark: :niark: :niark:

I definitely belong to type A :)

Seriously pepe...this is a very complex game and you won't get away with it easy by just asking. Read the manual, then the 101 then the wiki and then ask, after 6 months i did this and i'm still learning something new everyday! lol

I read the manual a few times, but I think you can still run into a few (or in my case a lot) of issues that it doesn't cover.

Well the first game I played I definitly did lose......playing the north n the computer bowled over Washington :p

After that I fiqured I better hunker down n build fortifications (ya think!)

The only time I crack open the manuel is to remember that da&n trivia stuff.....hmmm lets see thats 2 cannons n 4 depots to build fortifications......ahhh F%$^ its the other way around....uggghhh!!!!!

Really all heavy duty games have all the same things in common, I play them all for hours on end since its my passion. Well I understand the rest of you have real lives tho so my system wont work for you, but I quarrentee playing as the north I can give you a run for your $ LOL playing head to head n a still didnt read all that junk you guys suggested. I DO pay close attention to all the little things on my screen though....everythinh there always has a purpose so ya gotta be a stickler for details. Like looking at word-perfect or some utility and finally seeing all the features :fleb: (N yes this game is mega-complex n I luv that!)
