Depot Building

Sat Jan 19, 2008 1:01 pm

I read the previous post and the Wiki as well as the manual on building supply depots.

However, in real life (or should I say in real game time) there is a difference Between taking 2 supply wagons to a city and hitting shift D (or river transports ect) and it starts building.

My question(s) are:

1. I noticed each supply wagon is made up of more than 1 element (if you click on the icon in the right window it will say a supply wagon is made up of 2 elements). Does it take 2 supply wagons or does it take the one supply wagon (made up of 2 elements)?

2. Do you take the wagons INTO the city you want the Depot built in or just the region the city is in?

3.It indicates that you just right click on the 2 supply wagons and hit Shift D (I tried hitting them at the same time AND one after the other) and I get no message, it doesn't change icons (like it is building) or anything I can recognize that the building of the depot is taking place.

If this is the proper proceedure? Should I get an immediate response or change in looks? Or do I just click Shift D and check it later?

I'm sure its simple but it is just not that clear.

BTW, THANKS for all the help on Divisions and Corps, I FINALLY got it!!!

1. It takes two supply wagons to build a depot. The wagons must be in supply and not too battered.

2. It is not necessary to place the wagons inside the city; the region outside the city will do. The wagons do need to be in the same stack.

3. Once you send the command to start building a depot either by the method you describe or by hitting construct depot button, there really is no change in the unit. There might be a symbol above the stack indicating depot construction. The building takes place after you hit the next turn button. The next turn you can return to the stack and place your tooltip over the construct depot button and see how many days are remaining for the build. When built, you will get a message to that effect.

1. You need two units, and they must have 4 elements each. The need to be in the same "stack". I think they need to be at a "reasonable strength" but I'm not sure how strong. There are also region control requirements.
2. Doesn't matter.
3. I always use the "build depot" icon, located in the "third Special Orders tab" [looks like a sabre] to the left of the unit display panel.

The only "look" you'll get is seeing the "build depot" button depressed.

Glad to hear you're building divisions! :cwboy:
