command penalty question

Wed Nov 11, 2009 10:32 pm

Playing version 1.15 in a pbem game. Does a command penalty for a stack have any impact on whether the stack engages an enemy stack? In this case my army was on orange/orange ROE and entered a region where my opponent's command was. My stack had a command penalty of 20% and George Thomas was commanding the stack.

The other command was led by Forney and also set on offensive stance and my opponent had given them orders to attack (don't know if he targeted by stack or dropped them into the region). Both forces rushed past each other and switched places without engaging. We are trying to figure out why they waltzed past each other. Both forces were division plus size and mine had at least one cavalry regiment.

Thomas was entrenched on the outskirts of Louisville, and Forney had entered the region adjacent and west of Louisville the previous turn.

Some anomalies happen. This would be a good candidate for replay to see if you can recreate the same outcome. While a battle should have occurred, your units missed. This is mostly a random action, not one based upon command penalty or force strength.

Gray,
First of all, I was trying to thwart the annoying post from haotian52. I do not know why this person is allowed to post such.

So, I am out of time, this is true.
It is not my experience that a replay always ends the same. This may be the intent, but it is not the outcome. I find, often, the result differs. One of the features I love about the AGEod system is that when I replay, a new result happens.
May just be me. But, a new result happens almost always when I reset to the last turn and replay.

That is great to hear.
Thank you.
Sorry if I made this situation worse.

Ok, will try.
You are likely correct, I change something.
Thank you for several things, but this notion of same I will try.

@ Gray,

I don’t know all of the ins and outs of the file system but I often run into crashes when the turn is processing.

Even though I made saves before ending the turn, when I restart and continue the turn it is the clean end of the last turn and none of my moves or builds were saved.

Now if I save and quite out of the game those moves are saved until I come back but once I end the turn it seems I am back to a clean start again.

I imagine this is as designed but it sure is an annoyance when you have a crash.

But what happens to those saves?
