The Generals

Fri May 08, 2009 7:12 pm

Now I don’t know about you, but I find intense interest in the ACW generals. The more I read, the more fascinating it can get.

Why just the other day I was following up on Albert Pike, the CSA general/explorer and Indian leader, anti-secessionist, born in Boston, and who, after the war, became an international grand master of the freemasons and a leading KKK leader AND who is alleged to have been involved with Italian revolutionary nationalism as well as Satanism. Whew. Now that’s a history! Only CSA leader, I read, with a statue in DC.
But I digress.

AGEOD’s leadership system is also rich with the flavor of blending both political realities with the ability to utilize generals in a manner that can bring the best interests of its army to the fore. :turc:

I absolutely adore tracking and pinpointing which generals are rising and which ones are falling in seniority and equally, attempting, on my part, to influence which leaders I can steer away from blocking other promotional victory point losses or, conversely, which generals I can accelerate into experienced professionals. It’s fascinating and intriguing, I find as the rising/falling tides of chance and ability wax and wane in piston fashion.

So to assist in that process, for myself, I constructed a couple of tracking spreadsheets in Excel to help that I’m happy to share who those who may share my sentiment. It takes a small amount of time each turn to enter data in a game, (blame/congratulatory data obtained generally from the end of the training report---2nd report button on the right). But, for me, it adds great flavor and another layer of enjoyment as long as I’m not in a hurry. If I neglect it a turn or two, I can always catch it up thru use of the games F1 screen using the generals sorter on seniority.

Now I have used these listings ALOT. And in the process I make no claims thus to full and complete accuracy whereever they stand now. I am sure from game to game I have missed/changed information in games that I have played. And some traits are prolly missing. Some first names are blank as that got too laborious for me to fill in. There's prolly some flaws too. :bonk:

In the process of playing, too, I have found that SOME DATA CAN CHANGE from game to game, depending on your game settings. So please note that I submit these listings as a starting point for you to create your own iteration of generals data. At the least it will save some of you real time in starting data input while it enhances enjoyment. :D

I have included some notes as to how the spreadsheets work on the “notes” page of the spreadsheet. Above all, I submit these (for those of you who choose) that find tracking your game’s generals a little more fully adds enjoyment to your game. I fully expect some to modify and enhance. In addition you all have full permission to reproduce, modify and enhance as you see fit. No copyrights intended here.

Here's a screenshot to whet your appetite as to what's inside. :)

Tho not show it will automatically adjust stats for experinece levels achieved!

And so here's the spreadsheet itself:

Enjoy as you will!
Happy General-ling!
