Partisans, bushwhackers, indians, etc.

How do you use these units? I've been playing CSA mostly since I got the game, and a fair number of these irregulars show up. I know how partisan irregulars are supposed to be used, but in the game the only use I have found is deep raids to cut rail lines. What am I missing?

If you are in need, just add them to combat units... i.e. divisions.

Indians cost 0 CPs (if Watie leads them) so you can get a full 17 elements division + 6 indians (out of the division) leaded by 2 generals 1 * , so 23 elements with 0 CP penalty with just 4 CPs.

Those elements quickly destroy enemy depots... if they achieve to capture them..

They're good raiders. They move quickly, have a good chance to evade combat, and have a forage bonus.

I agree with your partisan/raider strategy. When these appear during my campaigns, they are sometimes deep inside Union territory with no great way to expedite their movement south. I use them to destroy as much rail as possible and hopefully a depot before they get massacred. They are just too few soldiers to constitute any risk.

I haven't tried putting the Indian units in divisions. Might be a good idea since they are 0 CP. Save you using a cavalry element.
