Angry Generals being passed over

Tue Feb 19, 2008 2:28 am

Quick Question, I will use 4 Generals in a scenario that CSA may (and usually does) have to go thru.

When you start Pt Beugauard*** (sp) Starts with the AotPwith a 5 seniority.

Joe Johnston*** Seniority 4 has no command and is OK with becoming a Corps commander under PT.

i HAVE NOTICED THAT IN SOME STARTS PT B AND J JOHNSTON START WITH A 6 AND 5 SENIORITY RESPECTIVLY.
Ok, after this it becomes unclear.

AP Johnson*** shows in Tenn seniority 3 and WILL be Cost you a penalty if you don't give him a command before any other General gets theres.

Now riddle me this....JOE Johnston gets congratulated and his seniority drops to 3 (same as AP Johnson)

Does the Politic Number come into play (like a commision date when determining the senior officer)?

IF I give JOE J a command BEFORE AP J will that cause a bad effect?

NOW here comes LEE*** Seniority 4....

We now have 4 Generals with Army capibilities 3 of them have lower seniority tha PT B does

CSA can ONLY have 3 armies at this time.

So what do I do?

I understand that IF I STRIP PT B of his command there is a Big hit.

If I promote Lee over AP OR JOE Johnston there is a BIG hit (TWICE I found out the hard way, once for each general

So I guess I am asking One question and ONE 'WHAT THE HECK DO I DO'.)

Question...If I have Joe and AP the same seniority can I give EITHER one an army over the other without HITS and If I Strip PT B of his army to give AP AND JOE thier armies will I be Hit agian (this way I can Give R.E. Lee 4 seniority the third available army because PT B is a 5 seniority.

IF not then do I need to just take a hit somewhere and which would you suggest? Because You HAVE to get Lee a command or your dead....quick.

The ONLY other alternative I can see is to NOT let J Johnston fight till after Lee gets his command (and that REALLY handicaps the CSA)

If you can understand what I am trying to get at please and know anything at all about the proceedure please help.

Thanks

In all of my games, I have waited to give Joe J his Army until he and Lee can both recieve them.

There is rarely any need to have more than one army on the Potomac. I will usually have two in the Tenn./Ky. region and another in WV or somewhere in the deep south depending on needs at the time.

Put two of those commanders in the same stack, and the army command button will change to a two-headed arrow or 'switch' symbol. Mouse over it, and in the tooltip, you will either a message stating what the penalty will be for switching or you will get a message stating 'giving so and so command of the X army will respect the proper chain of command'. That message will often (maybe always?) use the wrong general's name (the one who is already commanding the army) but that can be ignored. If you get the go-ahead message, hit the switch button. Viola! No penalty.

P.S. Albert Sidney Johnston - I just call him 'Sid'.

Ok, that sounds reasonable I will try that.

I posted this in the other thread you had running also. Move Johnston to TN, let Jackson start work on his needed promotions. I have completely smashed the Union too many times, and never has Johnston been a factor in any campaign in the east for me.
