Telegram or 'Teleporting' leaders

I keep seeing a reference to 'teleporting' leaders a long distance from where they are at and having doulble CP's or joining another Corps.

I understand the 'Telegram' reasoning but Just how does this work and to what advantage (that I may not see)

The idea is teleport a Corps commander from the HQ army to a far place (the indian lands) -> so x2 CP and other corps bonuses.
