Specialty Units and Stacks

Mon Jan 21, 2008 6:24 pm

I have read everything I can about the Specialty Units (Med officers, Ballonists, Signal Officers, ect).

What I can't seem to find is a list or a place WHERE it is listed on WHICH stack all these go in.

Example: I know SharpShooters need to go in the Divisional stack and why.

But what about all the others....

AND, what do they mean by stack (I know WHAT a stack is)? Do they mean a Divisional, Corp, or Army Stack?

ALSO, Do they need to be incorporated into the stack (like using the + on it) or just a hanger on.

Example: Huger (CSA) is an Artillerist. It says ALL units in his stack gets a 20% bonus to Artillery and if he is the highest ranking officer in the region EVERYONE gets a 20% bonus.

I understand that but what I DON'T know is do they mean a Brigade, Division, Corp, or Army?

As you can see this could make a HUGE difference depending on what stack hes in. Agian, does he need to just be a hanger on IN the stack or incorporated into the stack?

I'm using him as an example but ALL the specialty Units are important.

And if theres a list somewhere that explains it or a wiki page...I can't find it.

Could someone that has some expieriance with this PLEASE help us Moobs on this subject.

Thanks as usual!!

Most go into a corp/army stack. And they effect only that stack.

To be sure you know what a stack is, a stack is collection of units single region. Several stacks can be in the same region. Each stack is a tab you see in the lower panel. Each tab represents a separate and independent stack.

If an ability affects a stack, it affects every other unit in the stack. Doesn't matter if is a Corps or Army stack, (no such things as divisonal stacks really) or if contains a single militia unit.

When something only affects "the unit this element is in", then it will only affect the division the element in, or if it is a brigade that contains more than one element (regiment) Example: the three-element infantry brigades that have sharpshooters would only affect that brigade, unless you place them in a division. Because "the unit this element is in" now becomes the whole division. But it wouldn't affect other divisions, or other units in the same stack.

Its generally best to place the medical and engineer units in the biggest corps or army stack you have, depending on how active they are. Engineers make you entrench faster, medical units recovers cohesion (lost during movement and battle).
