Questions about HQ's for the CSA...(and the Union also)

Wed Jan 16, 2008 1:13 am

I was actually trying the Grand Campaign as CSA and I noticed that when Johnson and P.T. Boughguard (sp) came ACTIVE I could NOT get Johnson to become a General of the army with Corps under him.I got frustrated (agian) and stopped for awhile.....* But it hit me (see, even I can Start getting a clue once in a while) that Johnson DID NOT have a HQ while 'ol" PT did!!So here's my 4 questions: 1. At the start of the game do I need to use the REPLACEMENT or the REINFORCEMENT screen to get Johnson (and others in the future) thier HQ's?
2. I take it when completed it will show up in the EVENT screen as completed and tell me WHERE it is located. If this is true then is it complete or does it have to "fill out' in a level 2 city as other units do?
3. Do I need a 'Supply' wagon ALSO combined with the HQ to get him his 'General of the army' status? AND, if so when I recruit this supply is there anything special I have to do to make it a 'ARMY SUPPLY' or will it just become one when combined with the general when he takes over the army?
4. I have seen 'Corps I' supply and 'Army supply' 'West Supply' ect. Do you need to name them yourself (and if so HOW do you do it), or when joined up with the proper units it will take on its own name?

I know these questions sound simple (and are) but if I could get some answers on these it might help ALOT of Noobs (like myself) get a jump start and not get soooo frustrated!!!**** Thanks as usual guys!!!

1. On the Reinforcement screen use the support tab. This will give you access to the HQ units that you can build. Please note that the availability of these units is limited.

2. You are correct. When the HQ units are built, you will get an event message informing of this and identifying where the units are located. The units do not need to be 'filled out'.

3. To make a 3* general an army commander, you need only the general and the HQ unit in the same stack. The general in question will need to be not in command of a division. There are VP and NM penalties for giving an army command to a general if there are other generals with more seniority, but without an army. You do not need a supply unit to create an army. However, you will need a supply unit in the stack to be able to remain in supply and gain a combat bonus.

4. Supply units will arrive already named and it is not possible to change the name.
