So? Is this game just a dog, or what?
I have not gotten that far in a game but the rule book is TOTALLY inadequate. (I should not have to go to Wikipedia for a, still not very good, rule book for a game I paid $70 for.)
I'm pretty p1ssed off.
The potential for this game is there, but it was released about a year too early.
I WILL NOT be buying BoA or any other AGEOD product until I see some progress.

Few elements and explanations were indeed missing, even if we tried to update the manual (available for download), but all answers are in this forum, FAQ and the wiki.
The AGEod community is helpful and courteous.
If you have any questions, they will probably be answered by several experienced players or by the game creators themselves.
However, by experience I know that few players having the habit to control everything up to the last bullets can have some difficulties to adapt to AACW.
AGEod does not desig micro-management games. That's why you won't find some elements in the rule book, because you don't manage them. A lot of things are managed by the software, and you'll learn them from your combat experience (and common sense).

U see groucho, i bought it in august and i'm still studying it and learning it. The manual is incomplete, probably inadeguate because the game is so complex it would need a ton of examples to really make you understand how some things work. The lack of a real log page explaining what happens in detail also doesn't help the player familiarize.
Trust me though, after you read the manual 10 times like i did, and play like crazy you will learn from the mistakes. The manual can hardly be up to date when patches get released so frequently...also, don't forget this game is so terribly complex that only experience teaches! The manual will tell you how to do what you want to do but can't tell you WHAT to do to win...that is up to you to discover.
On a final note, you have the very same problems all new players have (me included though i had a different attitude) but here are the forums. Ask right away and you'll receive answers.

I purchased the game when it first game out and have been playing it off and on ever since. It's a surprisingly deep game but I think you will be pleasantly surprised once you get into it. The forums are a great resource if you have any questions.

eh, I didn't even look at the manual until my 3rd or 4th game and figured most things out by trial and error and the forums.
The game is complex but it is brilliantely simple at the same time. I wouldn't mind the abilit to actually micromanage more as an option. It use to take me an hour a turn, now they probably average around 10 minutes with the exception when I am planning out my next several turns operations. I will make changes as I go but I almost always have something in mind and concentrate on that as my primary objective and take advantage of situations as they arise else where.
Play a few games, mess around with the options to see what they do and afer a couple times you will know most of everything you need to know.
This is absolutely the best Grand Strategy Civil War game I have ever played.
That being said, yes the manual is a dog but the game is by no means one. I had thought about putting together a manual myself an submitting it for AGEOD's review but I am so eyebrow deep in a program for this game and on my 4th scenario (they will all be released as a package, sorry guys) that I don't have the free time right now.
