Union Army HQ???

Tue Aug 07, 2007 9:07 pm

Dumb question - I have just started the full campaign game. Trying to establish more that the one Army that appears in April/May 1861. How do I get another HQ so I can stand up another Army?

Thanks for the help. Great game, great forums.

You need to wait. The limit on army HQs increases, and when you are able to build new ones, they'll be visible in the "Support" tab of your "reinforcements"-screen

(I don't remember exactly how long you'll need to wait in your case. Others might?)

As Federals you can build one more in September/October (and it better be used for McClellan or you will pay dearly in NM) and another two in January/February '62. I havent' played further, nor have I played the Confeds, so somebody else would pick up from here ;)

I don't - I put him in command of what used to be the Army of Northeast Virginia. When you dismiss McDowell and put Mclellan in charge it becomes the Army of Potomac which is very good too :)

Oh sure, it makes your corps commanders slightly less likely to activate but '1' strategic compared to '2' doesn't make that much difference - they tend to be so low anyway you don't get many activations regardless :niark:

Anyway, it means the Sep/Oct one can go to Fremont and then hopefully Grant can gain seniority quickly so you only 'pay' once for ignoring Banks/Butler in the fourth army set up.
