missouri - cairo

Sun Jul 15, 2007 12:58 am

hi

st louis missouri is a mjor objective as the csa and as such i have tried many ways to take and hold the city, to me though cairo seems to be key to missouri and the whole of the western campaign, i can always take bowling greene and then fortify, but cairo with its location always seems to draw my attention, and the easiest way to take st louis, and threaten northern kentucky, and as such i always build the army of tenn at humboldt an move on cairo as my major western objective, am i missing a trick here or do most csa players move on cairo, it just seems so inviting :bonk:

I find the best way to take cairo is to simply rail Polk into it soon as he becomes active. If you play your cards right the union will move some artillery close to cairo not soon after and you have a good chance to capture it.

A suggestion: save up enough river transport capacity to get Polk there in short order. I think it saves a few days which can be crucial as the Union has reinforcements on the way SOON, I have butted heads with Lyon there and gotten my ass handed to me because of the landing I imagine. :siffle:
