Newbie and XP

Thu Feb 26, 2009 4:28 am

Love the game, and the forum/posts. Playing my 1st campaign against the AI. It is 1864, and I have no unit over 3 stars. How many xp does a unit get from a battle? I am being conservative, and have fought only 2-3 battles a campaign season each year (per stack/corps).

Oops. I meant my elements, not my generals. I have 3 star elements (out of 10). I have generals with 3 XP stars (not their rank). :mdr:

When an element deals more damage than it takes in a fight, it gains xp. When an element destroys an opposing element, they gain a lot of xp. Also, cavalry gain 'levels' a bit faster than infantry and artillery will take longer than both. (Though this seems to have something to do with how they deal damage, not their thresh-hold of xp per 'level'.)

With more time 'under center', you'll see when enemy stacks are more vulnerable and can do some big damage and thus gain lot's pf xp.

I think an element that replaces his losses will lose some experience (new recruits kind of dilute the veterans experience) so its not easy to have lots of stars units.
A 3 or 4 stars element that is blooded white and then absorbs lots of conscripts will probably go back to 1 star experience.
Regards!
