Help with saved games

Sat Mar 22, 2008 9:44 pm

Hello all. Please help if you can. The amount of saved games was getting unwieldy so I decided that I would delete some of the saved games that I no longer need. I found the game interface for deleting saved games very time consuming. So I looked in the saved game file and to my surprise there were no files of any of my saves- only tutorial files. I then searched the forums to see if anyone else had this issue and I found that at least one guy did who was also running Vista http://www.ageod-forum.com/showthread.php?t=5908. Someone in the thread suggested changing a setting in Vista and rebooting. So I did this. Went back to the folder and they still were not there. By looking at the tutorial saves, I determined that one the save files has the .trn extension. I did a search for .trn and found all the saved games and deleted the parent folders for the saves that I no longer wanted. Loaded the game and selected the load game option. To my dismay, my last game file (one that I named myself) does not show as a save that can be loaded! Only auto saves (that I did not delete) are shown. Back to the search option for .trn files. My save from my last game is there- right where I left it. Now how do I get the game to recognize this and let me continue playing?

Strange stuff. As an experiment, I started a new game. And saved a save file with a custom name. I then went back to the location where my saves were previously going and the new file was not there. So I selected the load game menu option and the new save was there. Strange. So I then looked in the games save folder and the newly saved game was there also. It appears that Vista stopped saving to the location that it was saving orginally and is now saving into the game's saves folder. So I then copied the on going game from the location that Vista had saved it before into the game's save folder and now it shows up in the list of saves that can be loaded. All this because I wanted to delete some saves! Perhaps the game could be worked in future patches so that deleting saved games from the program is easier and less time consuming?

Actually the program takes some time to delete files because they are added to the recycle bin. Before this was not the case, and the deletion was instantaneous.
