Crashes during turn processing

Thu Jan 03, 2008 2:54 pm

I'm getting random SYSTEM crashes during turn processing in AACW.

I'm running a pretty salty system...

Quad Core CPU
NVIDIA 8500 GTX
3GB RAM

Windows Vista Home Premium. I really don't think this game requires that much from my system to process...but I could be wrong I suppose.

After pressing the End Turn button in-game, at about Day 8-10 my computer starts humming very loudly and then just automatically restarts itself. Very frustrating. I didn't happen for a little while there...but now has happened a number of times.

I'm also playing with the vanilla version of the game....(I sometimes don't do patches until I find real problems with the game. I think it's time. I've heard there have been difficulties with some of the latest patches...didn't know how far up I should go 1.07f?)

Anyway...please advise.

thanks again.

You could try reducing memory usage; now it is an option in the options menu inside the game, although previously had to be changed "manually". Do not really remember what patch introduced it as a simple option to toggle. Try 25% or even less.

It wouldn't hurt. :innocent:

Patch, by all means

You can at least use 1.07h. I don't see any large problems in using the most recent one either, available from http://ageoddl.telechargement.fr/latest/AACW_Patch.zip

I also fully agree that you should patch to the latest version (1.08b and counting), specially due to the vast improvements in gameplay that Pocus & co keep insisting in giving to us.
I just do not believe that your problem is patch-solvable, though... :innocent:
