Forts never get built

Tue Nov 13, 2007 3:16 am

Hello everyone,
this is my first post in this community...I have bought the game 2 weeks ago and have been visiting these forums for a little longer, in fact these forums help me decide. Thank you!

I have however an annoying bug that keeps ruining my games, Forts don´t get built!!! They sometimes do sometimes they don´t!

I mean the batteries and supply wagons are consumed, but the fort "countdown" doesn´t start and the fort never gets built!! This keeps happening time and time again it´s like the error is hardwired in the savegame or something....

Sometimes the forts get built without problems other times the resources just disappear and the fort never appears!!!

Has anone noticed this ? What can I do ? start over?

I have the 1.07f patch...

Hi Aki,

couple of comments on that:

First, are you aware that building forts take longer than 1 turn? AFAIK it takes 2 turns to build them (ie the order to build one in early April 62 would yield a fort in late May 62). (as a matter of fact it would be completed during turn between early and late May)

Second - don't take it personally, I did the same mistake - are you sure the fort is not there? The city will have a little rectangular brick building in the middle (it doesn't look like fort donelson, for example) :siffle:

And then the usual suspects (which I don't think apply to your situation, since your elements to build a fort are consumed): All arts/supplies have at least 50% strengths, the commanding general of the stack (if there is one) is active, there is no depot in the city.

Hi,

I can check what is happening, but I will need a saved game. All the games are saved with the 24 last turns, so as soon as you see there is a fort ordered and it is not built, save the entire game and send it to support@ageod.com

First of all thank you both for the quick reply.

I´ll answer Snoopy first. Snoopy I know that the fort takes 25 days to complete...The thing is when I order the fort to start building everything looks fine, when I pass the mouse pointer over the stack the little box appears and the fort building time is shown.

Then I pass the turn....errr are you with me so far ? :) The problem is here the remaining time is not shown ( like in normal circumstances when forts do get built ), the last 10 days but my batteries are gone and so are the supply wagons....

Now to answer pocus thank you very much for the offer, I´ll send the file already. :)

K the problem is happening in Fredricksburg you should see 2 armies there one of them Lee´s if I+m not mistaken has the assigned ART. Batteries and SUP. wagons .... See for yourself and give me a help if you can please.

P.S. - this happened in this same game in Fredrickburg earlier in the game and I decided to ignore and keep playing, and in Nashville in another game.

Saved games Sent ( I sent two cuz I couldn´t identify the right one in the save folder....eerrr they have the same name except for a zero and so I didn´t knew which one to choose. Thanks again! :sourcil:

I have not received anything so far, was it on support@ageod.com ? You can send it with this procedure:

Open the following game directory: Ageod American civil war\ACW\Saves. The list of folders is the list of the games you have on your computer. Select the one with the problem (if you are unsure of the name, the time stamp can help you), then do a right click: you should have a menu to zip it into an archive, as a single file. Zip the game, and then send it by mail if under 5 Mb, or by a website* if bigger (there should be only one file to send).

*sending by a website: you can try http://www.mediafire.com, http://files-upload.com/ or http://www.yousendit.com/ the operating procedure is as simple as sending a mail.

A thing that you can do is before loading your game is to rename it, you hit the 'home' key (see the tooltip when you pass the mouse over your game, in the load menu window).

Hmm, IIRC both Fredericksburg and Nashville have a Depot, so you shouldn't be allowed to build a Fort in the first place.

That does sound fishy.

You can build a fort in any region with an initial structure, regardless of there already being a depot or not. You can also build a depot in any town with a fort. You even can build both a depot and a fort within a structure in the same turn, provided You are using different stacks to do so...

Pocus, I had sent the saved game yesterday exactly as you told me to do so now...However as I couldn´t identify the right save , I sent two (both folders had the same name except a zero ) and so I decided to zip both of them and send them.

Today I got a notification of message delivery failure in my mail box, and so I´m sending the smallest one (7M ) again. I suspect this is the right one because it´s the smallest and so it must be the earliest in game terms...which makes it right.

SOOOOO....Finally this said, I must ask you to look at the fredericksburg stacks and try to build a fort!!! I shall restart the game because I can´t get this fixed no matter how many times I load and reload !!! Like I said earlier it´s like the damn bug is hardwired in the save game file or something.

btw I USE Windows Vista....for all that matters...
