Does the 'Exchange prisoners' event ever work?

Wed Oct 24, 2007 8:07 am

I have many times selected this option 'exchange prisoners' but never got a message (or an increase in manpower that I have noticed) that I have more VPs or more manpower.

I wonder if the AI never accepts these exchanges wether being CSA or USA, or simply this feature doesn't work. I am using 1.07d (I think it's d, anyway, around this patch).

There was a display bug on this one that I just corrected for 1.07f, but it works, simply the message was not appearing.

Ok, and thanks. I'll update. I am always a bit uneasy to update to new versions when they are just released because of the fixes they sometimies need, but this wouldn't have happened to me if I had done so. Sorry and thx. :coeurs:

One question, i read in the ageod wiki (manual page):

Starting in July 1862, prisoner exchange becomes an option for both sides. Both sides can now ask for a prisoner exchange each turn. If both sides asked for such an exchange, they release 1/3rd of the prisoners of war (POW’s) they hold in their camps and get a small VP or NM bonus. Please note that the number of POW’s gradually declines due to poor detention conditions (unless new POW’s are captured of course).

but, do they increase 'manpower' (i.e. available companies)?, or they simply go home? I think they go home, or else I should have noticed it. Am I right?

no they are put in your conscript pool. Paroled prisoners often returned to fight, especially for the South.

That's why, I didn't notice any increase, and I saw no event text informing of this.

Another possible improve could be, if a fleet is destroyed by fort fire, for example, explicite it. I mean, I saw messages that a certain fleet had received 40 hits, but I didn't know how many they could take; only when i was told the aldmiral was injured I realized the ship was destoyed.

The same with the hits in the retreat or rout, many times I assume that 60 hits in the rout will harm my units, but I got very surprised when I saw that complete brigades had dissapeared, which I wouldn't have guessed just being told the number of "hits".

I suppose this should go in another thread... :siffle:

ok, with the last official patch, it works and the information box tells me the results in exchanged men. I cannot say however if they joined my pool in truth.
