Text problem

Sun Sep 23, 2007 1:44 pm

I just downloaded AACW and it's not running right on my machine. I have a brand new laptop 2Ghz pentium4, 2 GB RAM, NVIDIA 7900 graphics card, 17" monitor in 1920x1200 resolution, and Windows Vista operating system.

1) My main problem is that much of the text is the wrong size or maybe the wrong font. Text overflows the boxes where it is supposed to be making it incredibly difficult to read.

I have two other intermittent problems.

2) Sometimes in the main menu a flickering image of the menu in fullscreen proportions will appear superimposed over the main image.

3) Sometimes the intro song plays over itself in discordant harmony.

The text problems sounds like something that was fixed previously, in one of the patches. Have you downloaded and applied one fo the newest ones, e.g. 1.06d or one of the 1.07 beta patches?

The text problem comes generally from a DPI setting not set to 96. Check in the general properties of your video card what they are.

For (2) make sure you have the latest driver. Vista drivers are still rather unstable.

(3) what about others songs? If only this one is garbled then you are better removing it, I have alas no technical solution to propose on this subject.

OK, my problem was not being set to 96 DPI. It's fixed now!!!

I had a hell of a time figuring out how to change this. It's not in any properties menu that I found. Nor under display or graphics card or anything like that. It's in control panel>personalization in the "helpful" task menu on the left side of the screen.

I'm not a total dummy but vista makes me feel like one.
