New Game does not load

Mon Sep 03, 2007 6:31 pm

I just purchased AACW, and was initially able to run the tutorial. I then attempted to load the fifth game (and ultimately the third), but the game does not load, just sits on the Main Menu while chewing up CPU cycles.

This is on an XP SP2 AMD Athlon 3200 Box with 512 MB RAM and a GeForce FX 5500 Video Card. Thinking the problem might be the RAM (although it is within the specs), I installed on a Vista Intel Pentium M 2.26 box with 2GB RAM--with exactly the same results, except that now on neither box can I run even the tutorial.

I let both run for over half an hour, but all that happens is it remains on the Main Menu while Task Manager indicates it is consuming 97% CPU time.

Any help?

Do you have in your list of applications running in the background either norton antivirus or an anti-malware (ad-aware for example)? Disconnect from the internet, then shut down both and try again. Do not forget to reboot before connecting again. :)
