Critical error and restoring saves

Sun Apr 22, 2007 12:06 pm

Hi!

Well... I was playing this morning and got a critical error that caused the game to CTD.

When I went to try to reload the game, there were no saves of the campaign I was in except a setup save I had made at the beginning of the game. All the rest of the saves were from other campaigns. Don't remember exactly, but it was move 18... putting it somewhere around Jan 1862.

I then tried to eliminate a couple of the old saves, hoping that would possibly bring up a save from my present campaign... nope. Now I only show 2 saves from other campaigns when I try to load a game, none from the present campaign.

I then checked the error log and everything seems okay, except the game chose to load from campaign 4 instead of campaign 7, which I am on.

Is there any way I can reload the save from campaign 7, backup 18 manually?

My feeling on this is that it was provoked by the latest patch.

Thanks for any advice.

You are good :niark: . Same thing also reported on beta.
Do following. Go to your ACW folder and go to saves. Then pick your campaign folder. When it opens it will have sub folders named backup1 to backupxx. Open last backup and copy files in campaign folder.

Check the pic. I had the same problem on turn 16.

Enjoy :cwboy:
Forrest said something about killing a Yankee for each of his horses that they shot. In the last days of the war, Forrest had killed 30 of the enemy and had 30 horses shot from under him. In a brief but savage conflict, a Yankee soldier "saw glory for himself" with an opportunity to kill the famous Confederate General... Forrest killed the fellow. Making 31 Yankees personally killed, and 30 horses lost...

He remarked, "I ended the war a horse ahead."

I checked my ACW folder, I do not see a campaign folder.

Is this because I did not start a campaign yet ?

Thanks,

It is in the "Saves" folder.

TC237,

I just checked my saves folder and I only have the scenario games that I played, Bull Run, Shiloh & Gettysburg. No campaign folder. Remember, I have not started a campaign as of yet. I plan on starting one later.

Yes.
Every new game started, creates it's own folder, whether it is a campaign or battle scenario makes no difference.
