Install Problem

Tue Oct 13, 2009 2:04 am

I followed the instructions and uninstalled the version I was using in order to install accw_v1.14d.
I installed accw_v1.13e from a cd. I tried to run this version and it said I lacked D3DX81ab.dll. Downloaded that file and still it wouldn't boot. It found two separate errors and (I think) produced two separate email error reports.
I love the game( in those rare moments I get to play it) but I have no desire to be a techie and it seems that is what is required to upgrade the game. :bonk:
Please give me simple instructions to get the game back up and running.

All full versions install the DLL you speak about, so this is rather weird. Do you see the file located in the same directory that the main executable, AACW.EXE.
What is the operating system you are using?

Install Problem

Tue Oct 13, 2009 8:46 pm

I'm using Vista.
Last June I had a problem and I downloaded 8523 setup(aacw_v1.13e). It worked fine.
After I uninstalled I reloaded this as the "clean install". I then installed AACW_1.14d. I added the *.dll and that brought me to just prior to the Menu with options, saved games etc. It then asks if I want to send an email error report which I sent.
Should I uninstall and delete everything?
Thanks

Ah, Vista... An O/S as good as Millenium without doubts :)

You should deinstall and reinstall, but not on the C: drive, and see what happen. Just install 1.13e and verify it works before patching.

install fixed

I uninstalled and then deleted the directories and subdirs. I then installed 113e and it worked. I've now installed 114d, then rebooted. I haven't retried it but I'm optimistic.
