Game Keeps Crashing

Mon Aug 03, 2009 3:02 am

My game keeps saying a critical error has occurred and closes itself. I've tried rebooting, restarting the game, and even rolling back to the previous turn but it keeps doing it every time I end turn in late April, 1862. Is there any way to salvage the game? I'm doing fairly well and I'd like to not have to restart all over again. I attached the logs to this post.

I just had the exact same thing happen to me. Normally you can role through the crashes and just reboot, but not this time. Crashed for good in the Spring of '62 as well.

My first deep game has crashed and is no longer playable from the last round. I'll get the files and send them off to Pocus for whenever he can take a look.

Union AI is excellent in 1861/early 1862. I was having by far the most historical like tactical battles in the game. Athena did some totally nifty and historically conscious things. AI's national moral points was also pretty high and not dropping for not having done a whole lot, which I like as well. I'd like to play deep into 1865 if I can without them giving up due to not having reached certain objectives and me not having taken D.C. or any other Yankee city.
Oh my God, lay me down!

I e-mailed the game files to the support e-mail address. Should I still post them here too?

Had this problem in the last version of ACW (1.13b) found i could make it through to the next turn by disabling Pause after each battle, so you dont get the pop-up middle screen means you still crash... but you can reach the next turn and its playable still... sounds silly but used to work as an alternative for me.

Obviously, you deselect it.

Ah, that was what was meant... don't pause to show the battle report. Got it.

I got the saved game Colonel Dreux, but the orders files are not there. Can you please make me one zip of the current turn which is crashing. If you submitted your orders, then you have 4 or 5 files, depending if the AI generated its turn or not. For example in the folder MyGame, you should see Backup1, Backup2 etc. folders AND these files:

mygame.hst
mygame~CSA.trn
mygame~CSA.ord
mygame~USA.trn
mygame~USA.ord

Zip me these 5 (or 4) files in a zip and please send it to my personal address (referencing this tread and your nick):

Colonel Dreux: Your saved game has a problem. See my mail. The next patch will be able to cope with corrupted files better normally.
