Problem with replay

Sun Apr 19, 2009 9:50 pm

I was using the replay function without any problems so far. But my last two turns in my pbem game I get an error message "the application is stalling", or something similar, and, then, ctd. I can see the replay in other game against the AI. Also, I´ve noted that the size of the replay file is smaller than it uses to be.
I attach the log file. Í´m the host in my pbem game. Thank you in advance for your help

Hi,

We will need your saved game to check the issue.

Hi Sorel,
i think Pocus will need the full turn files to check the issue
Could you contact your PBEM rival and ask him to post the full turn file set??
Saludos! :)

Oh, :bonk: Thanks, Arsan ;)
I´m attaching all the files the game generates each turn zipped. I hope this will be enough

The replay is corrupted indeed. Is this the sole turn or each time you get that? In this case, I would need the backup1 folder to check why it is corrupting itself.

I have the same problem in my PBEM game with Mickey3D.
The first turn, the replay was fine, but after, no replay at all.
I have the same error message...

Your problem may or may not be associated with the fact that you are running the Public Beta test version of the game. Not sure if Pocus can check for that just yet (and for sure not with the "official" v1.13b data which this thread is for). You and Mickey3D should use the latest "official" update patch v1.13b and possibly install the latest QuickFix for that specific version.

edit> also as long as you continue to run the v1.13e (RC5) Public Beta version of the game, it would be better if you posted any errors found while running that test version in the special thread created for it: http://www.ageod-forum.com/showthread.php?t=13726

Sorry for your confusion regarding the different versions of the game.

Sorel, are you using the public beta patch or the latest official patch? I need to know before checking.

I processed backup2 and it generated 2 valid replay files each of 5.23 mb. I don't quite know how you ended with a reduced and corrupted replay thus. Perhaps you should switch who is hosting, if one computer has a problem.

A quite intriguing problem then. I´ve reinstalled the game and it isn´t solved. So it definitely seems something related with my computer

what would be interesting is to know if the same turn processed by your buddy's (or hated opponent ;) ) generates a corrupt file or not. if not then it warrants further inspection from us.

I had this same problem with a PBEM game with a neutral host (Redeemer). I just got the save game and replay files. This is the 2nd turn. I have asked him to send you the relevant information Pocus.

I am hosting for Jim and Doom. Doom has no trouble, Jim does. When I run the replays, I have the same issue. USA runs fine, CSA is corrupt. Backups attached.

Has this issue been solved, because I've had the same thing happen to me several times. :(

Sorry no, if this is the same save as I tested, I did not got the problem: backing up one turn, I successfully generated the new turn and both replay without corruption.

Please post your current turn and backup1 folder with all files (you must be the host to have all files), perhaps the problem can be reproduced from your data.

Hey Pocus, thanks for the reply. I sent you a pm because the games in question must remain away from the public eye... :eyebrow: :sherlock:

Hi!

I´ve been doing some tests in my games. The problem was not solved changing the host. In fact, in other pbem game that I have started after the problem first happened, it has appeared again, in the same turn (second one of 61 full campaign) and as me again as CSA; the difference is that now I´m not the host.
So, I do think the problem is in MY computer, and that it is related with something in the .ord file.

Greetings.

Just an update, the bug has gone away with our save (between the time it existed and the time we checked the code!) so we will revert to this save and then report to you. Sorry to be so long...

Elusive bug it seems. I processed the turn once, for each side, and got the 2 replays correct (big fat files of 4.65 Mb). Sorry.

Next save, anyone?

I can watch the replay fine on mine, but the moment I click on a stack (not sure if you are supposed to or not) I get a critical error message and the application terminates entirely. This is from a PBEM I am hosting, but let me know if you need more stuff.

I'll need all the files (from the host) to check replay generation. The host should send in a single zip the HST file, the two TRN files, and the two ORD files.

Edit: I see the messages are related to missing frontends definitions. Are you sure the patch is properly installed? A common error is to install it in say Ageod's American Civil War\ACW and not just in Ageod's American Civil War.

Ok, I found the bug, it seems to be an old one that nobody got before. This will be fixed for the next patch (during the week). Thanks.
