Help needed....

Sat Mar 14, 2009 1:46 am

I have recently come back to the game after a rather lengthy hiatus. I'm now experiencing a problem with the graphics. The game plays properly for a few turns, and then suddenly the graphics become completely whacked out, wiping out all city displays and icons. Once, the ledger symbol appeared anywhere on the map a town icon had been. I'm running XP, with a GeForce 8400 card, 1.5 GB of RAM. I even went so far as to buy another copy of the game. The first time I installed it I got the same result. I tried the patch (1.13b) and the same result. I've uninsatlled and re-installed several times, to no avail. Has anyone come across this, and if so, HELP!!!!!!

Thanks in advance,

Mike

Hi Mike,

Graphics glitches are 95% of the time the result of a not up to date video driver. Please update it. You can also post your DxDiag file here or at support@ageod.com to get more details.

Pocus-
Thanks so much for the response. I've updated every driver possible, and I'm still having the issue. I'm losing what's left of my mind with this problem. I've also tried altering the settings, the display properties, and anything else I can think of. The problem still happens. Sometimes I can play for 3 or 4 turns before it happens, and other times it's almost immediate. Anything you can suggest would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks again....

Mike

I had game go screwy on me - it turned out to be hard drive ready to crash on me. The next time I turned on PC it went cruch crunch crunch! Never had RAM or trouble with my ATI Graphics card. It is nearly always hard drive trouble.

Ok, went and purchased and installed a new video card, booted up, and still have the same problem. Does anyone have any other suggestions? I'm getting seriously frustrated....

If you can, return the video card. Then completely uninstall the game (run the uninstall and then delete the game directory manually if the uninstall didn't remove it. Sometimes uninstalls will not delete saved games, settings, etc.) and reinstall the game.

You may want to update your version of directx. Microsoft's lastest version 9.0c was released Dec.5,2008.
