Le Erreur: Qu'est-ce que ça peut bien faire? (Topic not actually in French.)

Wed Nov 12, 2008 5:24 am

...Okay, I don't actually speak French, so that ends the topic title. Anyhow! I'm receiving an error. The popup border and the options are in French, but, luckily, the error is in English. It states:

Code: Select all

"DirectX to Renderer invalid call (Burst Mode) [ ]
Would you like to terminate the application? Oui / Non"
, standard 'Yes-No' dialog choices, just in French.

Now, this happens two times that I've noticed: First, if I minimize the game while it's loading, sometimes, it'll do this when I select it again, after giving me a lengthy black screen. Also, as I just found out, if I leave the game alt-tabbed for a while, and then go back, sometimes it does this. Sometimes it doesn't. It also does it if my computer has been put into hibernation with the game running, and I try to re-select it after un-hibernating the computer.

If I select 'Non', the option-box returns, up to 104 times (I got tired of clicking 'Non' after that many) that I am aware of. 'Oui' causes the application to, of course, terminate.

I don't, technically, have a graphics card, I guess. I have an Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950, which is computerspeak for "Cheap piece of crap Intel shoved in this laptop so it could render spreadsheets". But besides this error-message, the game functions perfectly even with it, with beautifully-rendered graphics, so I don't think that's the problem, here.

I'm at a loss as to what is, though. Aide, s'il vous plait!

The game don't like screen saver or sleep mode true. For the rest, I never had problems alt tabbing while it loads, but it is definitively not the standard practice either ;)

I always use to alt-tab while loading and surf the forum for a while :D
I had no problem with this. In fact, AGEOD games alt-tab works like a charm for me!
But maybe if you have a very limited graphic card like that integrated one you should be careful and don't alt-tabing while loading.
By the way, my graphics card is not state of the art precisely (a 5 years old Ati 9600 pro)
Cheers!

alt-tab when the games does not load is completely safe. When it loads, I guess it depends of the video card you have ;)

Huh. So don't alt-tab then, unless I'm willing to experience errors. Hee. Well, fair enough! High-powered games need high-powered computers, and I'll be upgrading soon enough. Thanks for the information!
