Trouble Loading the Game

Sun Jul 27, 2008 11:03 pm

I am unable to load Ageod's Civil War on my computer. When I click the icon to load the program, a black screen pops up with a bar at the bottom, recording the progress of the program. It loads less than a quarter of the program, and then freezes. Eventually, a box pops up that says "AACW.exe is not responding," and asks if I want to close the program or wait. I installed the patch, but it did not have any effect on this.

I operate on Window's Vista with a new and capable computer. I would be grateful for any help.
"Can any reasonable man be well disposed towards a government which makes war and carnage the only means of supporting itself—a government that can exist only by the sword? This single consideration should be sufficient to dispose every peaceable citizen against such a government. But can we believe that one state will ever suffer itself to be used as an instrument of coercion? The thing is a dream. It is impossible."-Alexander Hamilton

Hi Pemberton1!

Have you rebooted your computer after installing the game/patch? We had reports that problems like that 'magically' disappeared.
Please make also sure to close all unneeded programs and run the game with administrator rights.

If you have still problems, I would like to ask you to send me some information about your computer.

Firstly I would like to have the General.opt, which is located in the game directory ...\ACW\Settings\.

Secondly I would like to take a look to the DxDiag report file of your system.
How to get it:

1. From the Windows Start menu, choose Run or press the "Windows Key" and "R"
2. Type "DxDiag" (without the quotes) in the Run textbox and press OK
3. Wait for the progress bar on the lower left to complete
4. Finally, press the button labeled "Save All Information..."

This is the file I need.

As the last file I would like to have the report file the program HiJackThis produces. This program logs the processes running currently on your pc as well as the programs which are loaded when the PC is started. I attached HiJackThis to the post. Simply un-zip and run it (no installation required). (This program is a free tool provided by TrendSecure, a company which produces security software. http://www.trendsecure.com/portal/de...ls/hijackthis).
To get the report file:

1. Start the HiJackThis.exe.
2. Click on the button 'Do a system scan and save logfile'.
3. Save the file.
4. Quit HiJackThis. Do not do any changes with the "Fix Checked"-Button unless you know what you are doing! Please scan only.

Please send the 3 files to support@ageod.com
Thanks!

Cheers
Norbert

Hate to say but my problem is back as well. Exact the same as the above chap.

You know the strange thing, it only seems to rear it's ugly head when I have played the full scenario and get to turn 3.

Running Vista as well.

Will do the above if I can.

Chris

PS Did a reboot and fired up AACW as the first thing I did and it worked. I am beginning to suspect that something interferes with the game. Will monitor.

Yes, I believe this is very likely. If the problem remains feel free to send me the files according to the post above and I will take a look too.

Cheers
