cannot run game

Sun Jul 06, 2008 5:33 am

Hello,

I have installed the game and experience the error discussed in previous threads (the installer does not complete on its own). I have manually entered my serial number into the AGE setting folder. I am unable to start the game, and when I try and install the new patch I receive:

An error occurred while trying to replace the existing file:
Delete file failed error 5

This error is occuring when the patch is trying to overwrite the .exe file.

I am running Windows XP (fix pack 3) on an Athlon 64 3700+ with an Nvidia GeForce 6800.

Thank you for any assistance.

Keith

Deletion of files is somewhat forbidden to users who are not logged in using their administrator accounts. Are you sure you are logged in as administrator?

What happens if you try to start the game? Do you get any error message?

If this happens please restart your computer and try again. :cwboy:

Thank you for the prompt response

Hi everyone. Thank you for the prompt responses. I will try and get the DXDIAG shortly. I did find that there were several files open in my task manager, and my guess is that this was why I could not overwrite/delete the file (it was in use). Now what I am finding is that when I try and update with patch 1.10, the patch update hangs very early in the process (probably 1 or 2 files in). So I am still unable to open up the game unfortunately, but will try and get you more technical information soon.

Thanks again,

Keith

DxDiag won't be of use here, this has to do with locked files on your PC.
