it looks like a general or something appeared with a name issue, and thats what seems to cuased the crash.

Sounds strange. Have you installed any mods of any kind, or is this vanilla AACW? If the latter, have you tried re-installing (since it then seems the string-file or some other file has become corrupted in some way)?

nope just vanilla AACW actully i found out what problem was..

I backed up my save game dir, uninstalled AACW and reinstalled it started up fine, i then put save game back in place in Dir started it up load game it was fine.

I then patched it to 1.05a tryed it worked fine
patched to 1.07h tryed it worked fine
patched it to 1.8c tryed it worked fine was able to load game
patched to 1.09 wont start up gets stuck at loading screen..

removed save game folder from save game dir

tryed it agin with 1.09 still wont load up

issue seems to be becuase of 1.09 patch. for me.

I tested this on three computers my laptop running vista anthere system here in store running vista and my personal computer running vista i had same results on all of them.

ethere theres something worng with the patch or download file or theres it takes a rediculy long time to load now for some reason, one machine been siting at load screen now for good 25 mins

I have no idea what the error was I got, when i was playing the game just must been random error or something..
I still got the save game file...

If i should send it to someone I dont know, seems like sometimes if i play for 9 hours or something it will randomly crash and ill have to reboot game and reload it. this is sepert deal to the whole 1.09 patch..

Sorry to hear you're having these problems.

Since I have no experience with running AACW on Vista myself, I don't really have any recommendations about what to do. Searching the forums shows other cases looking like yours, but they seem to mostly relate to corrupted savegames exchanged in PBEM games or with corrupt files in the data directory.

I imagine that you are using the same downloaded patch file for all 3 computers; have you tried re-downloading the patch, just in case something happened during download/unpacking?

I got the same error myself yesterday and was unable to start the game. Unfortunately, I don't know exactly what fixed it, but I was able to start the game again after making sure some background programs weren't running (programs that had set themselves to start automatically with the machine; always nice when vendors decide to be "user-friendly" on your behalf :fleb: )

Seems strange that something like that could affect the parsing of the AACW language files, but I didn't really do many other things, apart from a couple of reboots, before I was able to start the game again
