Best example so far of "Dancing Force" Icons

Wed Nov 28, 2007 5:58 am

Here is a PERFECT example of the "dancing force" icons with screen shot goodness.

First, Price is attacking Lyon in St. Louis, MO and is already in the region from his attack last turn. During the Supply stage Price's dance goes as follows: St. Louis, Belleville IL., St. Louis, Belleville. After he stops "dancing" the first day is processed and he attacks but when he attacks his icon is in Belleville but that is NOTHING. Check out this screenshot. Look underneath the battle results page...yup, that is our boy Price about 5 regions south while he is in the middle of an assault up in St. Louis that started in Belleville and ended up only God knows where, lol :bonk:

It took a while to find him because I scrolled to map while the results were still up to see if he was still in Belleville but he wasn't. Went to St. Louis, nope not there either. Went west couldn't find him. Finally go south and there he is.

EDIT: This is just a test scenario that I am not actually playing as I would. I am just trying to find suicide attacks by the AI that others have posted. What I have found is nothing as severe as others but the odds in this scenario for the attacking AI force is common. Every turn the Army of the Potomoc hs been attacked while entrenching more every turn and outnumbering the attacking AI probably 3-2 and better with every attack yet they come back for more each turn so far while I am a 2-1 favorite in strength in this one. Not the 2-3 to 1 odds that was recommended for attacking forces at the time. In fact, it seems the AI has it backwards. If severely outnumbered by 2-3 to 1 attack at all costs seems to be the AI motto.

Next turn he is back in St. Louis again having been repulsed but still (err..back) in the region. He attacks one more time and sure enough he is down in Ironton MO once again to carry out the attack in St. Louis. :niark:

Haven't noticed anymore dancing other than just Price the one turn and everytime he attacks he ends up a few regions south to carry it out only to return to St. Louis after the battle.

Is this fixed in all cases, or just in the one case cited above? (And I suppose the fix will be in the next patch.)

If not fixed in all cases, I will try later this week to recreate the "dancing force icons" problem, then send some save files.

This should be fixed in all cases, theorically. ;)

So, assuming you have not slipped the fix into 1.07h, this fix will apply to 1.07i and all future patches, right? That is, you haven't yet made the fix public, right?

Totally right. And there will be a 'Xmas patch' by the way :)
