Game crashed to windows during main campaign.

Wed Nov 28, 2007 11:07 am

Hi all - I wonder if anyone can help me. First of all, of course let me say what a fantastic game this is. I have been enjoying it immensely which makes this crash particularly annoying :-)

Anyway, Im about half way through the main 2 theatre civil war campaign, heavily involved in battles all around. Problem has suddenly occured when I click the end turn button.

It does the supply section fine, and processes a few days but when it gets to day 4, the game simply closes and I find myself back in Windows desktop :-(. Ive tried a few things, moving units, changing graphical settings etc, but it still happens.

I opened the log file, and the error message at the end displays:

09:42:07 (Reporting) Host MakeStep
09:42:08 (Reporting) Host MakeStep
09:42:09 (Reporting) Host MakeStep
09:42:10 [Critical ] TGroup.Update 1004012 Army of the James Exception caught: Débordement de pile DebugStep: 390

The critical error is what I assume booted me out?

Anyway - I was wondering if anyone knows what I should do to get back playing again. Im just about to take Washington as the Rebels and General Lee is activated -- please please help me!! :-)

I have had this problem twice so far. The problem is not as bad as it seems.

Relaunch AACW and open the Load Game tab. Find your last turn and select. You should find the new turn waiting for you.

Thanks for getting back to me so soon!

But Im not sure I understand your solution?

If I go into the load game menu - then I load the one I want to play, everytime I click "Next Turn" it crashes still :-(

Ive tried this about 7 times now and nothing is working :-( Looks like there is a problem with the Army Of The James (who are sitting in Norfolk waiting to be attacked) and this keeps crashing it.

Should I try pressing "Home" and reverting to a previous turn?

No, if you are in the latest version, you can send me your game turn (only the current one for this case), as bugs are always unwanted guests. To support@ageod.com. Please refer to this thread.

dear Pocus

Thank you for your response. I am happy to say that I seem to have temporarily fixed the problem :-)

Before reading your post, I went ahead and reverted to the previous turn. I then cancelled my attack on "The Army of the James" and went ahead with the game. Sure enough the Army of the James moved out of the region and the game has continue without incident since then!

Fingers crossed it will be ok from here, but if the same bug should come up again I will immediately send it all in as requested.

May I just say too, that its a real comfort to see you on these forms helping out fans of the game. I work in the computer games industry too and these days sadly I do not see much of what you and your team are able to offer.

I congratulate you and extend to you once again my fullest thanks!

Keep up the good work.

Thanks for the kind words. Yes we do believe in what we do, we are far from the pump&dump state of mind of some companies.
