problems with mouse control

Sun Apr 15, 2007 11:44 am

I have lots of problems with the mouse during the tutorial, I don't dare to play any full game or scenario.

I move the mouse to the unit display - then the map starts to scroll. Sometimes it zooms out and in - automatically.

Then I move over the "next tutorial page", then the pages jump automatically - just like I clicked. But I didn't click.

Then at a certain moment, I lost my mouse pointer control. And finally was able to exit AGEOD game - and when I was on the desktop - my mouse control was broken.

What's going on ? My mouse is behaving totally crazy with your game ? My mouse is a basic Logitech mouse - never had any problem with other games.

I did an uninstall - some files I couldn't uninstall - and did a new install and tried again before and after patch.

always the same result = my pointer jumps around and does crazy things - zoom in and out when it shouldn't - click when it shouldn't. After some time - the thing freezes.

really weird - please help me with this problem.

I also tried to change the settings in the utililty - and at a given moment the game starts up with some kind of "custom" mouse pointer - but again the thing stalled and jammed.

OK, I did also an update on my ATI 9600 drivers. I started again and chose the tutorial.

Again the same problem (see above) for details. at a certain moment, my mouse became "jumpy" and went left-right clicking like a mad pinball. Following screen came up =

"confirmation"

"several errors have been generated and the application is stalling"
"would you like to terminate ?"
"oui" "non" "annuler"

as this last text was in French, I think it has to do directly with AGEOD.

ok - this means I can't play the game - :8o: sad

Seems to be another problem with the 9600/9800 radeon serie.

What is your operation system, XP?

On behalf of all the team, thanks!

I don't want to sound pessimistic, but we have issues with the 9xxx Radeon serie since some time. It seems to be a driver issue, having troubles with some DirectX function calls... even if our engine don't use much sophisticated drawing functions.

I believe at least one user fixed the problem by trying to use another driver, not the latest version, but an older one... sound strange but it worked. Do you want to do that? We can provide you with some older drivers for your card if you feel like trying.

Send me your DxDiag file though, along with the logs in the ACW\logs directory, as soon as you get a crash though, can help thinking of solutions.

Pocus, how will you choose and get me the older drivers that worked? Please note that it worked neither with old nor new drivers. But the example you gave, might also help with me - but I don't know what those old drives were.

About DXDIAG - what is this - this sounds like Chinese to me ?

Another solution would be to not use a genuine NVidia driver. The omega team is doing a very good alternative since several years. I'm personnally using them on my laptop, and they are totally safe. Perhaps this would work.

Here is the link

Uninstall properly your driver before putting the new one, as usual.

I didn't un-install ATI drivers - cause I don't know how this could be done.

then I installed Omega drivers and let's say that 75% of the problems got solved. But the game is still unplayable - :bonk: :p leure:

what to do ?

it didn't jump that much - but the problem was it kept on zoom in and out in a weird way. You move a few regions and then the map zooms in or out - something I didn't want it to do. Another thing was that the map started scrolling before you enter the outer zone of the screen. F.e. you try to select some army or corps - and the whole map starts to scroll and move - sometimes pretty slow - sometimes really fast. :bonk:

Also the autoclick still happens - if you make a certain move with the mouse it "clicks". F.e. you move left-right and the tutorial overview screen moves to the following page - without clicking. Also happening in the game -

I tried but you'll be getting crazy.

Do you have the ATI drivers that solved the problem (like you described above)?

Here is how you can uninstall your driver (my system is in french, but you should be able to find your way):

Hope it helps.

I don't have the exact driver, this was not my computer and the problem was not entirely solved (from what I gather from a recent mail, the beta only solved the issue by applying a last time the latest driver just published!).

Can you uninstall then install again the omega driver?

This might be a dumb post but...

Could the "jumpy mouse" be the "Left-Click Drag" of the map?
If you left click on the map, you can drag it around, similar to Google Maps. But it is very fast and jerky.

Sometimes while trying to select a unit, I'll miss and accidently "Left-click drag" the map around a bit. It looks like a sudden un-intended jump.

By the way, is there an option or setting file we can change to slow the drag speed down a bit?
