Problems with Demo not starting

Sat Sep 18, 2010 2:25 am

Hi,

I've recently found this lovely game and decided to give the demo a try.

I've downloaded it, but when I try to run the shortcut from the desktop or the .exe, nothing happens.

A process is started in task manager, but simply does not ever do anything. The same is true if I try to run AGESettings.exe

I have Windows Vista, and as per the suggestions in this forum I have installed the Demo in C:\AGEOD rather than in Progam Files. User Account Control (the blasted thing) is turned off, I have my newest video drivers and I have installed the latest DirectX9.

Any ideas? I'd love to buy this game, but I have qualms spending money if I can't seem to get it to work.

Hrm. I never tried the demo, but I just tossed AACW into the default install folder my first time. I have Vista64 and it worked fine. The game takes quite awile to start, especially on older systems. Give it a few minutes, but you should see a splash screen and a loading process regardless.

Good news and bad news.

The good news is I got the demo to work!

The bad news is it doesn't work 100% of the time and I have no idea what I did or didn't do to get it there.

That said, I can usually get it to start with a few tries, so I'm prbly set to buy the actual game.

Regarding that, do I install the game + 1.15 + 1.16b6 + quickfixes or can i skip the 1.15?
