Windows 7: Any Known Issues?

Thu Oct 29, 2009 10:42 pm

I'm looking to buy either this game or Napoleon, and before I make the in vestment I'd like to know if anyone has tested the game with Windows 7 (which my new computer runs -- and no, I didn't have a choice in the matter) and determined any issues. Particularly with saving files and locating saved files, which appears to have been an issue with some of the other games I played (mostly the sports simulations).

I tried to post to the North American distributor's forum, but that forum's software doesn't seem to like me much....

Hi!
I'm still on XP, but some forum members (Nikel, step in! :) ) have tried the games on Windows 7 without problems.
The missing saved games seems to be a problem with Vista if you install the games on C:/Program files.
Installing them directly on C: seems to fix it, as lots of people play them on Vista regularly.
In any case you may want to try for yourself testing the demos
Cheers!

Hi arsan ;)

Like Richfed I have no problems running AGEod games on Windows 7 and before on Vista.

Have used 64 bits versions of windows, and AGEod's, like the rest of 32 bits applications are installed by default on the folder C:\Program Files (x86). Besides I always turn the UAC off

This way never have nor had any reported problem like missing saves. The saves folder and files are located where they are supposed to be.

This is due to turning the UAC off. Otherwise they will be hidden in a cryptic and hidden folder :D

C:\Users\YourName\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\AGEod's American Civil War\ACW\Saves

For me the UAC is just annoying so to disable it is a must, but it is your decision to do it or not ;) Never tried to install them in another, not default folder like has been suggested

You can see here AACW running fine and minimized in the taskbar
