Missing Amherst

Fri Apr 21, 2006 10:46 pm

1755 British campaign.

I've played through twice now, and neither time Amherst showed up. After the message that he will arrive, I periodically checked the ledger in case I missed another message, but he was nowhere to be found.

Anyone else having this problem?

I am currently working on the 1755 campaign to boost a bit the Brits in face of too strong and too early French successes...I'll investigate that point..

Logically and in current script, Amherst shows up in December 1758 on the most numerous Brtish stack (i.e. biggest army). Check them and let me know (or send the save to support@ageod.com )

I haven't seen Amherst either in the 55 GC.

Some minor complaints about the FIW scenarios:
1. Typo in the New York Bateaux unit (New Yok bateaux in the unit card).
2. British leader Forbes spelled Forbres in his unit card.
3. British leader James Murray is named Thomas Murray in his unit card in the Year of Miracles scenario.
4. British leader Stanwix has the leader data of British leader Thomas Clarke from the Revolutionary age (also in the Year of Miracles scenario).
5. My Mohawk scout unit doesn't seem to be able to incorporate replacements even if I have Warbands in the reserve pool.

A minor (more like nitpicking one) wish: Is it possible to implement that a player can rename combined units (like the saved games) as the game forgets the Task Force names when a game is reloaded as I have lots of garrisons and reinforcements named like I. Expeditionary force or I. Corps Expeditionaree (sp?). It would be easier to track their movement from the message window as the Task forces would be easily identified and it would give some flavour to the game also?

I'm not sure the Brits need any help in the scenario. It's very difficult (almost impossible) for the French to take Albany, and only Albany can end the game. If the British hold out then they will win. The numbers make that inevitable short of bad luck or bad play.

It will take a few days. I deleted my old save games, will play another through to 59 soon.

Ok I played a test game with 1.06.1 installed and defitinely no Amherst in sight (March 1759).

Looks like the FIW scenarios need a complete overhaul as far as Brit leaders are concerned (Look for the other concerns in my post above).

Some examples: Braddock has the rank of Major General but is a 3 star leader. Some other officers are 2 star or 1 star leaders with ranks of Lt. Gen and Maj. Gen.

I thought like the ranks follow this idea:

*** = Commander in Chief and/or Lt. General
** = Lt. General and Maj. General
* = Brigadier and Colonel

Also I would like to know are there any promotions in the game as the leaders' data sheets (the detailed data box) shows a line "Promotable: No"?

A quick update:

The Amhest bug is fixed
The scenario has been revised extensively by PhilThib. The AI now get some reinforcements if the French played blitzkrieg thru the country. (in multiplayer no additional forces will be given though)
