v1.04b (erroneous options): land unit & port behavior

Mon Mar 27, 2006 3:01 pm

(1) I believe that you can construct a fort at a port - maybe this should be dimmed out in the strategic orders.

(2) I think the flashing mouse rollover for dragged land units over a port should be eliminated.

Both of the above seem to be erroneous.

You can construct a fort in any region but the ones I mentionned (i.e. Indian villages, enemy controlled, already a fort). The fact the region has a port does not matter on the fort construction...
When the fort is constructed, it will shelter the land units. Naval units will still use the port (but can't use the fort). :king:

1. I don't understand. You can build a fort in any region if you have an artillery and a supply (and if there is no enemy structure, etc.).

2. corrected, if there is no ships in the harbor.

I'll have to check again, but appeared to me after constructing a fort at a port that you could still not make land units enter the fort like when you have a non-fort port.

If your units are outside a fort and cannot enter, they still receive supply and ammunition bonuses, correct? However, for the attack/defense bonuses they must be inside, correct?

By the way, the specific region that I saw this behavior was Manhattan.

which supply & ammo bonuses? Only if your army has a supply wagon with it you will have a +10% fire bonus.

the attack/defense bonus is indeed tied to the battleground, so no fort, no bonuses :)

which scenario poses the problem? I constructed a fort in the 78 campaign there with the english (disabled the AI for a quicker test), and it worked (and I could enter it).

I'll have to get back to you on this - setting up the situation.

I was pretty sure I saw it, but you know how it is when you are in the middle of a game --- you have more pressing things on your mind like survival than just reporting problems! :)

I have not been able to reproduce this. Most likely I just misinterperted what I saw. There doesn't appear to be any problem.
