Saratoga 1777

Sat Mar 11, 2006 8:57 pm

I'm slowly learning the game system and am enjoying what I see. Just started on the Saratoga 1777 scenario and noticed that the Hessian units von Riedesel Rgt,von Knyphausen Rgt and von Trumbach Rgt have both leader ratings, as if they were leader units, and combat ratings, as if they were combat units. Is this correct? I've patched to v1.03.
Thanks

This is perfectly correct: a few regiments (mostly the Germans, and the US Marblehead marines regiment) have an intrisic leader as a part of the regiment's first company...

They act both as a leader and as a military combat unit. The sole "inconvenient" of this is that the leader has to stick with his regiment and cannot move or change command like another leader...unless the whole regiment goes with him...

Nb: these German leaders usually "owned" their regiments and would not have accepted parting command or be appointed elsewhere and leave their regiment...
