PON - Conflict in Europe Restarting - Open Invite!

Hi all:

Many of you may be familiar with the epic Pride of Nations multiplayer game 'Conflict in Europe' as well as 'Conflict in Europe Redux' that ran here and on the Paradox forums for several years.

To quote several participants: "The game was one of my more fun multiplayer experiences" "playing pon with you guys was a great experience" "I find myself remembering the good times and excitement of our game more than anything".

Now a bunch of us from that game have decided that we had such a good time and enjoyed ourselves so much that we're re-opening the game.

We're looking for more players though, so if you enjoy PON or simply enjoy playing a very active PBEM with tons of nations, huge amounts of out of game diplomacy, and just lots of fun, give some thought to signing up! If interested, send me a PM with your email address and preferred nation (as well as a second and third preference).

We play one turn a day.

We're currently undecided on whether we'll start with the 1850 or 1880 scenario.

We're also debating as to whether some of the smaller nations will be playable or not. In the old game we had 24 playable nations but that will be smaller here. The nations marked as (playable?) are currently under consideration for addition but we haven't made a final call on them.

The list of currently filled countries can be found below. As you can see the grand powers are taken, but there are plenty of exciting nations left and we'll certainly give preference to current players if and when spots open up with the big nations:

Any chance Mexico could be open? If not I'm interested in playing Spain if still open.
Do we need to D/L any specific mods/scripts for minor countries? I remember an issue with small nations to move their forces out their own territory.

I'll ask the guys about Mexico. Will let you know soon.

I'm guessing the preference will be to have you take Spain to start and if we fill up with players, then maybe you could switch to Mexico? There's definitely some sentiment against filling out too many minors though, so Mexico may not ever end up being open, we'll see.

There will be some scripts and fixes to download, that will all be on the dropbox we use for the game once I/we get it set up, probably early next week.

We have only two certain nations left in the OE (which is a blast to play, it's how I got my start in the original CIE game) and Belgium and three possible nations that we'd probably have to vote on adding in China, Holland and Brazil.

Will just add that Spain might still be open, pending the result of our discussion on adding Mexico. If having Spain was the tipping point for a player who wanted to join, I suspect that would work out fine.

I have strong hopes to at last have the PON patch in official status before Summer. WON sidetracked us but on the other hand it added a lot of improvements in diplomacy that will help PON. I would be also interested to get a list of bugs in game engine and events affecting specifically PON. Room for 'true' improvements is alas much smaller.

We have The Netherlands left and also one or two more minor nation slots. We had thought we'd add Brazil as well (which may have a taker already). We might be up for adding one minor beyond that, if there was a country you really wanted.
