Looking for an Experienced Austrian Player in World In Conflict 1880

Mon May 06, 2013 3:09 pm

Check the other threads here about this game. We are now in March 1882 of a 1880 Campaign with 13 players (the usual 8 Major powers, plus Spain, Belgium, Holland, Ottoman Empire and China).

The Austrian player is leaving as he can't maintain reasonable activity and implication inside many games at once. Austria is doing quite fine now.

Any takers can volunteer in the game's Diplomacy & News thread.

Note that in case an existing player of a smaller nation wants to take over Austria, he shall have priority, but then his country would be up for the taking.

What is the rate of turns you play each week?

We play one turn every day, the orders are to be given before 21:00 PM CET every evening. It happens regularly that players miss one deadline, it does not affect much of the game.. and in case of two consecutive miss, the AI takes over.

It's not a big stress anyway because the situation is calm overall. In addition, a great power like Austria is interesting because it does not have too much to do (if at peace ;) ) because it's colonial options and actions are much simpler and lighter than those of Britain or France, or even Germany.

At the moment, Austria has just crushed Rumania and has a powerful and wealthy economy, an experienced and strong quality army, an very strong navy and some colonial investments in the Middle East (with some tensions with Britain over Dubai... solved in a recent crisis in favor of Austria)

And at what time receive the players the turn execution?
My gap time for playing a turn will be after 21:00 easily.

Usually I process the orders immediately after 21:00 pm. If all goes well and I have no outside distraction, and when the Internet is fast, the trn files are on the dropbox latest 21:30 most of the time.

If you are interested, you shall need to install the latest patch of PON plus a few improvements made for that specific campaign, most of which is on the dropbox. I'll send you a link to an installer that will give you the latest version hopefully. You'll need to be in touch with former Austrian player to get his summary and feedback of what his plans/intent were, just for you to get the complete picture of what is going on...of course, if you join, you'll have plenty of time to accomodate yourself to the game and who is what... I'll be able to send you a short summary too.

Cheers

Thats good for me. I could send my orders after receciving the turn resolution. It will be good for me stop thinking all the day in Nationalist and Republicans.

So if no other player of minor nation is interested you have your austrian player. :dada:

Are you sure it happened that way? When I look, it appears that Britain won, and it's their colony.

This was an issue we pointed out a long time ago, that the crisis resolution leads a player to believe one thing, but then the game implements the opposite.

You are right, I got caught myself... I'll mention that to Pocus too... may be it's only a question of displaying or translating the proper strings
