Corps is commited message

Sun Mar 16, 2008 12:35 pm

Just out of interest can anyone explain the message :-

J. Dix' Corps is commited against CSA in region Montgomery at day 1

I just saw this for the first time after playing the game for a year.
No battle occured and I didn't see any CSA unit in the region although
there may have been a cavalry scout.

Cheers, Chris

To answer my own post I think it just means that the unit will march to the sound of the guns.

Cheers, Chris

I've seen these too. I think it's as you say: the unit cited has taken a pot-shot at a passing raider, cav, etc. but not enough to be a 'battle' [opponent retreats before battle]....

I think it's the 'gotcha' version of the 'unit evades...' messages we see so much... :niark:

I always assumed it meant that your army has encounterd an enemy force, and that your troops are commited to the fight. But the enemy has not, and evaded battle.

It looks as though the Corps moved to the sound of the guns to an adjacent Corps aid.

In my experience a unit that commits will chase/follow said force. Keep an eye on your force, you may not to follow!

Almost forgot, it's also possible that ships will commit too.

Im not sure but

This message is only reported when you have several STACKS (Corps) in the same REGION.

When CORPS are in another region, they march to the sound of guns.
