How to identify missing elements?

Mon Jan 28, 2008 11:49 am

Hi,

given one of my brigades lost an element during combat. How can I keep track of this so I can position the brigade at a depot or something and the destroyed element will be replaced? Is there a way to see the table of organization and equipment for every specific unit?

Hi!
There is a way, but its a little convoluted...
Select the unit you want to know about and another one on the stack. Put the mouse over the merge units button (don't need to press it, and probably you can'T because it will be greyed out) and the tooltip will tell you the current and maximum number and kind (inf, art, cav...) of elements each unit can have.
Its not an easy way, but i dont now any other.

Also, note that brigades inside a division seems to NOT recover missing elements. They recover hits but you need to take the briagde out of the division for it to recover full elements.
Cheers!

Thank you for your answer. It would be very nice it this info was more accessible. Anyway, do you think that it is a bug that elements are only replaced outside a division?

It have been reported some time ago (i think it was McNaughton).
In reality, i haven noticed it while playing until he post about it on the forums. :siffle:
I dont think its a "bug" per se, but certainly its not very convenient.
Don't know if it could be easely improved...

Meanwhile you can see it as a way to simulate the reffiting and reorganizing of units between battles... forcing you to dettach and give your brigade some vacation time on a depot if you want it to recover 100% strenght.
From what i had read on the real ACW, neither USA or CSA had divsions or armies as neatly organized as ours on the game... brigades the size of companies were common after campaigning :p leure:
Cheers!

Well, personally I could live with the inconvenience of seperating brigades as such (I might add that this is debatable, of course), but I think that the info about missing / destroyed elements should be more accessible. I think I will post about this in the beta forum. Thank you for your input.
