OK...I bought the game. Then I bought $174 worth of RAM to play the game because NWS doesn't advertise RAM requirements. NOW! I can't see the entire screen. The menu labels run off of the edge of my monitor. I adjusted the vertical and horizontal position but that didn't correct it. I checked the "settings" menu and despite the fact that one of the choices was "display" it offered nothing in the way of picking an appropriate screen resloution.

So...what the heck video resolution am I suppose to use to actually be able to read the menu labels and the text of screen messages? Pretty aggravating so far for OVER $200 between the cost of the game and the excessive ram requirement. I also can't figure out how to ZOOM in and out. I would like to see some zoom outs to see larger areas of the map. The close up view makes it difficult to understand any grand picture of the various regions of the map.

Any suggestions or help, aside from returing the game, for a refund would be appreciated.

Menu labels running off the edge of the computer sounds like a font problem that others fixed by changing the font size to 96 DPI. Unfortunately, I'm not sure how this is done, exactly, and I imagine it might vary from computer to computer (video card to video card?)

Zooming in and out of the map can be down using the mouse wheel or by using the PgUp and PgDn keys. You can also click the mouse wheel or press the End key to zoom in/out max in one step. You can find an overview of other keys and suchlike at http://ageod.nsen.ch/aacwwiki/Shortcut_keys

Sorry to hear that you needed to spend money on extra RAM to be able to play the game, but I also trust that you'll find the RAM beneficial for other uses

Rafiki is probably right about your font settings, but for the display settings, did you go into the windows start menu, under AGEOD's American Civil War program group and into the configuration utility there? That's the place to go to adjust your resolution, under the display tab, there is a drop down box with the resolutions available for your setup.

The font change sounds promising but I will check out the display setting option first...I didn't even think of the Start menu program function...I just started the game by clicking on the desktop icon and then checked out the options menu...dum-de-dum, dum....GREAT ADVICE...I am going there now...thanks and thanks for the info on the zooming...in truth..I just jumped into it and haven't read the manual yet...I am just used to other interfaces in so many other games that are similar and didn't assume this would be so different...you are very helpful...thank you both very very much...and yes...I saw the writing on the wall and the increased RAM will be generally beneficial...it was this game that put me over the top and I am sure it will be worth it..everyone seems to rave on about these games by AGEOD...thanks so much to Spharv2 and Rafiki...MUCH APPRECIATED!! The fonts were already set to 96 dpi so that isn't it...I did change the display setting to 1024 X 768 depth 16, Freq. 70 and now I get the whole main screen with space on the sides to spare. Inside the game the map looks OK with the higher resolution and as long as I zoom in I can read the map labels OK...so it looks like the problem is essentially solved though I may play around with the various display options a little more after I try a couple of tutorials. Now that you showed me how to do it and I looked at the Start menu options!

1) Check for DirectX problems

2) Sometimes this happened to me too and i discovered it had to do with a jammed IE7 instance. (iexplore.exe) Terminated and solved...at least for me

I Have Changed Both My Computer And The Game Displays. The Game Displays Will Not Save Though. Only Thing The Game Display Will Change Is Standard And Full Screen And Then The Border Or No Border And Max. The Resolution Will Always Go Back To Desktop

Make sure your drivers are up to date before doing that of course.
