Corps / Army Connections?

Sat Aug 25, 2007 2:20 pm

How does one establish for each Corps its Army chain of command? In the first tutorial I had the Army of Tennessee and Army of Ohio both in Fort Henry, Tennessee. I also had three Corps there.

I could not figure out how to associate each Corps with the chosen Army to command it.

When you have an independant stack with a suitable commander, within the command range of an army, the "create corps" special command button will be enabled. If it isn't enabled, a tooltip displayed when hovering the mouse above it will lis possible causes for it not being enabled..

If the stack is already a corps, it is already attached to an army. If you wish to switch army, you'll need to remove, then restore the corps status, but I'm not familiar with the exact "rules" for which army gets chosen as parent, if there is more than one army that the corps-to-be can be attached to.

If I understood you correctly , you will like to attached the three corps to an Army ? -

You don't have to because Corps automatically attached to an Army when you form them . This is due to the fact that you cannot form Corps outside range of an Army ( although after forming you can move them out of the Army range and still retain the corps Command Points bonus but with the latest patch , you will have penalty of - 1 strategic and -1 offensive and NO bonus from the Army Commander )

Pleases take note the corps are still attached to the Army Command even though they are out of range

If you are trying to say you want to

attached Corps A from Army Ohio to Army Tennessee

Then you have to dismiss corps A from Army Ohio so that it become Independent Force . Then move this Independent Force to the range of Army Tennessee and form as corps , this Corps will be attached to Army Tennessee

However like Rafiki said , if you are within range of two Army , then I am not sure which Army Command the Corps will go to

In Tutorial One I had 3 Corps and 2 Armies all in Fort Henry. Is there any way to trace each Corps to its parent Army? Or are Corps attached to ALL Armies within Command Range?

Each corps is attached to one army.

When you have a corps selected, its parent army will blink red (not sure what happens if the army is stacked with other units). You can also hover your mouse over the corps symbol on the units panel to show which army it is part of.

Thanks. Hovering over the Corps symbol on the right identifed the proper Army.
