The war is won, but where's the party?

Fri Aug 17, 2007 6:40 am

At last, I've managed a win as the Rebs (early 1864, NM went over 175) and after viewing the victory message, it struck me as not fitting the epic nature of the AACW campaign game.

I know a lot of grogs sneer :p apy: at endgame "rewards", and I'm not asking for a CGI cut scene of the Army of Northern Virginia parading down Pennsylvania Avenue to a beat box version of "The Bonnie Blue Flag" while Stanton looks on and sobs like a little girl (Hmmm... :sourcil: ) but the current victory notice is pretty spartan.

Perhaps a short musical interlude while stats scroll by, a little cheering, an announcement that doesn't look like all the other event announcements...something that suggests a little triumph, :fleurs: ...

It's a minor quibble, but perhaps if the AACW community came up with a nice endgame win/lose graphic for each side, the work that the AGEOD staff would have to do would be minor, also... :siffle:

Yeah i'm also a fan of a bit more at the end of the game. A payoff for the hours put in.

Me too.
Forrest said something about killing a Yankee for each of his horses that they shot. In the last days of the war, Forrest had killed 30 of the enemy and had 30 horses shot from under him. In a brief but savage conflict, a Yankee soldier "saw glory for himself" with an opportunity to kill the famous Confederate General... Forrest killed the fellow. Making 31 Yankees personally killed, and 30 horses lost...

He remarked, "I ended the war a horse ahead."

I want the victory screen to have some Confederate/Union women. :)

I also won as the rebels two days ago and was quite disappointed by the short message.
I did not expect a video because there was no intro.
But I would really like to read a text that informs you about how history was changed and will go on from now. There should be such a text for a major victory (Union/ Confederacy), a minor victory (both sides) and a stalemate.

For example a major Confederate victory means they can get Kentucky and Missouri. A minor Confederate victory means at least the other eleven states remain independent. A stalemate also means that the Confederacy remains independent but is weakened politically and economically due to the war. A major Union victory is the same as real history. A minor Union victory means the union is restored but it is weakened so that the Southerners can keep many of their rights.

I think this can still be implemented because it only requires some new text files. And the main theme of the winning side should begin to play in the background.

Not what I had in mind, although it certainly wouldn't be the usual message... :cuit:

I'd want something along the lines of a statistical summary with some music, and maybe a flag graphic...and no bearded ladies!

i would love to see a newspaper that says all about the whole game played, i.e who won the war in big letters!!!, a break down of major battles and a losses report, maybe a total losses for both sides. a list of dead generals, and ones who have recieved the "congressional medal of honor" or something like that. it would probably have to be on several pages , but would be neet if you could "flip" the pages of the newspaper and if it could be saved as a file for later viewing...

sound cool guys????

i think so, lets make it happen techies!!!
