Is there any way pull up a screen that lists just divisions?
Also is there any function that shows a list of major battles?

Yes. F1 for the roster, then it is the fourth tab from the top.

If you'd like to see a turn log that lists battle results and such, perhaps you might post on the wish list thread. The idea has been designated as an item that might be done when the busy AGEOD team gets one of those roundtoits,
or a community member dissects the existing data generated at the end of each turn.

It shouldn't be too difficult to implement ("he said, ignorant as he was"), since it would "just" be a matter of keeping the turn log for multiple turns, perhaps with an option of writing the whole log to file (e.g. for easy access when writing an AAR).

What I'd also like to see, is a bit more fine-grained filtering options for the turn log, e.g. having a possibility of displaying just battle results, but this is no major thing for me, just something that'd be nice to have

There is a battle log available in the LOGS folder in the ACW install. It lists every battle and every little thing that happened in every battle. It's not available in-game though - you have to alt-tab out and load it into a text editor.
