TN militia

Fri Jun 01, 2007 11:58 am

Some reported a problem with the lack of TN militia. But the game has them: 7 in the force pool and 3 are given on map, remains 4 to recruit at start in the April campaign. In the july campaign, 5 are on map, 2 are recruitable.

Remember that a unit which is completely recruited don't show up in the buying interface.

I would like a save showing a problem with a lack of militia. Thanks in advance.

I posted a thread about the TN State militia (or the lack of it really) as you can buy volunteers only.

In the April 61 GC both sides field their state militias through an event (TN gets 3 units, IIRC) but still...there are huge gaps to plug for the CSA player.

Pocus,

I will try and get you one this afternoon. There is definitely a lack of units in the 61' campaigns in TN though. If I remember correctly you can build "regular" brigades, but not militia.

Considering TN's State motto is 'The Volunteer State', a lack of volunteers seems ironic.

I think part of the problem is that the 7 militia Tennessee starts with is not nearly enough to garrison their cities. By my count, Tennessee has more towns/cities than any other Confederate state (18, vs. 17 for Virginia & Georgia), while four states (Alabama, Mississippi, North Carolina, & Virginia) can recruit more militia than Tennessee. The issue gets noticed because Tennessee is in the front lines & susceptible to Union cavalry raids, but has much fewer militia available (in relation to the number of cities to defend) than either Arkansas or Virginia.

FYI, going through the April 1861 CSA events, I come up with the following militia pools for each state, in comparison to the number of towns/cities (I excluded pre-existing forts):

Code: Select all

      Pool   Cities
Alabama      10   13
Arkansas   7   6
Florida      4   11
Georgia      6   17
Louisiana   7   12
Mississippi   9   9
N. Carolina   8   15
S. Carolina   5   10
Tennessee   7   18
Texas      4   8
Virginia   12   17
