Campaigning in the South

Thu May 24, 2007 7:22 pm

Question for CSA players playing the whole campaign. When winter season sets in and both sides take hits from bad weather, frontline is stabilised and not much action takes place, does AI ever try to open another front (by means of amphibious landing) in Carolinas, Florida, Alabama etc. to take advantage of milder weather conditions in the South during winter season? Union side has so much rescources and men that it could easily hit hard the CSA in the belly during winter.

You mean like invading New Orleans in February 1862? Where would you ever have gotten that idea?

:innocent:

But I don't know whether the A/I would do that. I wouldn't be surprised if it did-- it seems optimized for offense.

Well, I don't know about weather patterns in the game (I am only playing demo right now), but in the demo both Carolinas, Georgia and Florida get Mud in December/January, no winter conditions there. Other states with Eastern, Mississipi and Trans-Missisippi fronts get lots of Snow, Frozen and Blizzard conditions, so I was wondering if you could fight for 12 months in the four Southern states mentioned above. Does AI ever do that? I know there are few objectives there , but c'mon, you don't have to rush armies into structures everytime November kicks in. At least AI could exploit this to open another front.
