Hot Seat?

Sun May 06, 2007 1:16 pm

So...

How does one do a hotseat game?

Could someone give me a fairly detailed explanation?

This is what I think..

1. I start a game as the yanks, do the orders and save "yank side"
2. I start a game as the rebs, do the orders and save "reb side"
3. Now go into Explorer, extract the reb.ord file and put it into my yank game and hit the turn button.
4. Next move I do the yank orders, and save.
5. Go into Explorer, copy yank orders and .hst file and put them into my reb game.
6. Do the reb orders and save.
7. Go into explorer, copy reb orders, put them in my yank game and hit turn.
8. Continue the cycle 4-7

Is this correct?

Thanks for any assist!

Maybe they will add it as an option sometime down the road. That sounds pretty complicated to do every turn.

Not in principle, I'd say. All the files needed for PBEM are there, so it's "just" a matter of switching perspective when the first player is done issuing his orders.

The right procedure for an Hot-seat game is very simple:

  1. Create game
    ----------------
  2. Load Union Turn, pass your orders. Click "Save Turn".
  3. Click "Back to main screen"
  4. Load CSA Turn, pass your orders. (Here, I advice to first click "Save turn" if you want to back up later). Click "End turn".
    ----------------

The turn is processed, back to phase 2 for next turn.

Korri is right, you don't have to maintain 2 games in parallel, one is sufficient. Crystal clear explaination shall I say.

Thats how I do it. We also make sure to unclick the 'activate ai' box in the game options ot make sure none of our orders are overridden accidentally.
