Naval Raiding as CSA

I'm sure this has been brought up before, so I apologize in advance: I have a hard time understanding the dynamics of naval raiding as the CSA. At first, I just send all of my Brigs into the Atlantic shipping box and I'll get a random, but not insignificant amount of money and WS. Over the course of the first year I'll build a few more and send them to the same box - eventually Semmes take command. But after that first year I'll suddenly stop receiving money and WS. What am I doing wrong, or is it WAD?

It's not random. There are 4 boxes, 2 for shipping, and 2 for blockade. If the CSA put ships in the shipping boxes, you lower the amount of money/WSU that the Union gets each turn. If the CSA puts ships in the blockade boxes, they get money/WSU. The rule of thumb is 2 things (don't have the game open right now, but I think it's 2) for each ship element in the box (it varies slightly with the number of ships in the box - more ships, less money/WSU). I say things, as the game looks at your ratio of money to WSU, and gives you a ratio. You get more of whichever you have less of. If you have $900 and 100 WSU, you should expect to get roughly 90% WSU, and 10% money from your blockade runners.

I think you may have moved your ships, and that is why you are no longer getting money/WSU from your blockade runners.
